Five Things

Things I do each day that help me keeping the pounds off.
  1. I get on the scale each morning. I do not panic over flucuations of a few pounds because I know how salts, fluids and the phase of the moon can play havoc on the numbers. I weigh once a day, first thing in the morning just to keep myself honest. If the weight goes up three days in a row I need a reality check. Sometimes it really is water retention and sometimes I can see it is because I have gotten sloppy with my food. I never get on the scale a second time or weigh after drinking, eating or exercising.
  2. I weigh and measure my food and a WRITE IT DOWN everyday. I have done that everyday for several years and it has worked. I do not argue with success and repetition.
  3. I drink a minimum of 8 glasses of plain water each day. Hydration helps keep my metabolism from slowing down. It helps remove toxins and salts from my system. It helps keep me regular. It is great for my skin.
  4. I do some sort of exercise 5 days a week. Walking, treadmill, circuit, weights, exercise DVD, floor exercises, ball and half ball - whatever gets me sweating and feeling the burn for 30 to 40 minutes.
  5. I attempt to get a good night's sleep. I shoot for at least 7 hours a night but I really want 7.5 to 8 but I have not managed it yet.
What healthy activity helps you in keeping the pounds off?

Love this too! This is what I mean I need to go back too. I use to write down everything I ate from day one of maintenance and stopped about 4 months ago. I still measure "most" things. Another issue "most".
