What's New?

I have completed the Food Plan page so anyone who was waiting for Dinner will find it finally listed. I also added an Eating Out section - because we all eat out sometimes, don't we? 

If you read the food plan prior to today there are some small changes. Please read it carefully.

I had a great workout this morning. It included a DVD workout, kettle ball and treadmill. We have been under storm and tornado warnings all morning so I am grateful I am working at home today. Sometimes a day spent working at home brings me into frequent contact with the refrigerator. I  plan my meals early every day and have no business going to the fridge and 'window shopping.' Last week someone very wise said something to me that really has helped me in releasing this behavior. She said:
"If you are going to keep going back to the refrigerator when you are not preparing a meal then you might as well get on your knees and start praying to the fridge because you are giving it power over you and therefore you have made it your God."
Ever since she said this to me I have not opened the door of the fridge unless I was preparing a meal. Little things mean a lot. They add up. Behaviors associated with food that do not bless my life need to be removed from my life in a positive way. 

If you do not 'get' this; if you are thinking there is nothing wrong with just looking . . . I cannot change your mind.  All I can do is share with you what has worked for me and offer the hope that if it can work for me, a person who:

  • Weighed 385 lbs and could not tie her own shoes. 
  • Weary just from living each day, neglected her personal hygiene
  • Hid food so the family did not know how much she ate
  • Overate in social situations but really pig-out-binged in secret
  • Thought she was having a good day if she only consumed only a half gallon of ice cream that day . . .
If the ideas, principles and actions that I have adopted into my life can for me,  they can work for others. Do you find your refrigerator has a magnetic personality? In your journey of keeping the pounds off how often are you attracted to the power within the fridge?

I can't wait to see your recipes. My roommate unsuccessfully made cauliflower mash so I'm anxious to see your method.
