Melissa McCarthy wins EMMY!

September 18, 2011
Congratulations to Melissa McCarthy for her Emmy win for BEST ACTRESS in a comedy.

Last year I blogged about a fat-biased writer who knocked the Mike and Molly show. This win is perfect vindication. Take that Marie Claire Magazine!

I loved her on Gilmore Girls, too!
Melissa, you have proven again that talent is not determined by a scale or dress size and our lives should not be held hostage by scales or pounds!

To everyone who reads this: Let this Emmy win encourage you to stop defining your worth by a number on the scale. You are not limited by your clothing size and your life MUST NOT be left on hold until the day you reach a mystical goal weight!

Writer Maura Kelly (is she still with Marie Claire Magazine?) had fat between her ears when she wrote that piece last year. Just as we can change our thinking and live fuller lives, perhaps she has changed her thinking and lost a little fat between the ears.

While I was writing this blog post actress Margo Martindale won the Emmy for best supporting actress: another actress whose talent is not trapped by her weight. If you have talent and passion - explore it, develop it, share it. Do not silence it with promises that it can come out and play when the pounds are gone.
