Proud Mommie

I am always proud of my daughters. They are both such beautiful spirits - each totally different from the other. Each bringing to the world her own brand of sensibility and cheek. Like with all parents, sometimes I see their growth as it happens and sometimes it hits me with a jolt. Today I want to share about my youngest.

Sometimes, when you are very close to your kids, you neglect seeing how much they have grown into the beautiful, mature, happy and intelligent beings that you prayed they would become on the day they were born. My youngest daughter, has been interviewing for a job for the past two weeks. The first interview led to the second and while leaving from the second interview they called her on her cell phone and scheduled the third interview. When she told me what the interviews were like and I heard the answers she gave to scenarios presented to her, it was like watching my baby grow up before my eyes. She was so poised and sophisticated in her responses - so grown up. I was bursting with pride for her.

This weekend she let me go with her to shop for a properly professional (yet affordable) business suit to wear for her third interview today. It was the first time we shopped together for clothes where we didn't fight over what she should wear or how she looked.  Her opinion of her business look had to be the one that mattered. We were mostly in agreement and where we were not, I deferred to her, as a parent of an adult child should. I guess we have both grown up.

Not our dog
A little while ago she called: she got the job and is now the concierge for an upscale, four diamond resort here in Orlando - with no Mouse ties. This job will lead up the ladder to where she would like to arrive professionally as she applies her talents to her chosen field and she did it all on her own. Bursting with pride might be an understatement.

Way to go, Rory.

PS: We will be celebrating in a non-caloric way, of course.

It is so rewarding when your kids grow up and amount to something. Some kids put their parents through so much.

Way to go Rory! I hope they have a uniform so she can save her money and not have to buy a pile of work clothes.
