Around the World in Eighty Days - Food Sober

Today is 80 days without sugar and without food abusing my body. I think I will stop counting days at 101 and switch to months. Each day I write the number down in my journal. Any day where the number makes me think of using the number for something else, I write that, too.

Like today, which is the reference to the Jules Verne classic Around the World in 80 days. Yesterday was 79 Park Avenue (A Lesley-Anne Warren mini series in the '70s). I've also had the Spirit of '76 and a Neil Diamond music lyric for day 72. There was Route 66, the Beatles "When I'm 64," and Heinz 57. There was the Colt 45, 33.3RPM, Forever 21 and Sweet 16. There were others and there will be more. It is silly but it adds something to the recording of the days. I do not like mathematics or just marking off days on a calendar but I do need to use these numbers right now and for today they are like little gold stars on a progress chart. I hope this progress chart will have no end.

I hope everyone had a happy and healthy Mother's Day. I went shoe shopping and ran into a mother-daughter team from England, here on vacation, who had no idea it was Mother's Day because in the UK they celebrate it in March. (learn something new every day).

I had a nice long talk with my oldest daughter and a happy afternoon and evening at home with my youngest. I had my ritualistic shrimp salad and Corona for Mother's Day lunch and my husband made dinner: chicken breast, brown rice, asparagus and carrots. It was perfect as he also does the cleaning up afterwards.

Life is good.

That's awesome work - 80 days is a long time, definitely long enough to establish a life long habit!

Jeanette: Oh no, 80 days is not anywhere long enough to establish a life long habit. I am someone who broke away from the good habits several times - in one case after several years. 80 days is only a drop in the bucket right now but as long as I keep adding the days, the bucket will keep filling!

80 days! Yes!!! Jane, you inspire me. I'll get to 80 soon...I'm sweet 16 or somewhere close to that now.
Glad you had an awesome Mothers Day. Great work! Keep on keeping on--I'll be here cheering you on all the way.

80 days is a great start. I feel like I'm often starting fresh and not sure if I've ever even made it to 80 days straight. I just try to keep the amount of wayward days to a minimum. You're doing great jane :)
